An eight-lap tricycle race around Peters Parking Deck on the Friday afternoon before the Homecoming game, and one of Georgia Tech’s most unique traditions since 1969. Teams of seven — four racers and three pit crew — take turns on the trike while the pit rotates the front wheel after laps two, four and six. Paint your tricycle: red trikes do not race.

Freshman Cake Race
6:30 AM
A half-mile race held before sunrise on the morning of the Homecoming game, open to every first-year student. Run it, jog it or walk it — every finisher gets a cupcake, and the top male and female finishers get a cake and are congratulated by the Ramblin’ Royalty on the field at halftime. The race dates back to 1911.

Ramblin’ Wreck Parade
8:30 AM
The last event before kickoff: classic cars, student-built fixed bodies and human-powered contraptions rolling through campus. It started in 1929 as the Old Ford Race from Atlanta to Athens, and became a parade in 1932 after the administration decided the race was a little too fast for its own good.
